Wavel and the fame

bug

No worries at all
Why do some politicians in Opposition have bad reputations?

The answer is quite simple; because their jobs as elected or nominated electorates are noble and self-sacrificing.

There is absolutely no politician in the Opposition who makes sacrifices for others, or at least for those who have voted for them. Citizens support hardworking politicians but they passionately disdain power-hungry dirty politicians.

We also know there is the adage that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The so-called Leader of the Opposition Wavel Ramkalawan reiterated at the beginning of this year (Regar January 15, 2010) what can be interpreted as a careless attitude when it comes to winning elections. SNP has other reasons to be in politics. And, we know that Wavel enjoys being on the throne of the Opposition because it has its perks. The others they take turn to benefit from an ‘honourable’ salary.

Wavel has caught the fame bug. Like Marilyn Monroe once said, “Fame, is like caviar. It’s good, but not when you have it every meal of every day”.

SNP is in a race not against Parti Lepep but one another, to win a good life.

They all want a big mansion painted with coloured (green) cement or grout which costs Rs140 a small sack, chalets, numerous transports and huge financial gains.

Power for Wavel is not about being the President of Seychelles, but rather being in a position where he can reap all the good stuff, i.e. the Leader of the Opposition.

There are no worries being the Leader of the Opposition, like he once said, “he was glad he was not the President”, considering that he would need to put the needs of others before self.

Ralph Volcere, the leader of NDP, is hopeless if Opposition fans were counting on him to ‘capsize’ Wavel.

Maybe they should give this role to David Pierre. He looks sharper or is he? For a fact we know that his green friends at Mont Buxton are somewhat appalled that Pierre talks a bit too much, sometimes he even talks in favour of Parti Lepep and government.

He has even almost whispered that he could cross over anytime. For all it’s worth SNP supporters in Mont Buxton might as well vote Parti Lepep. Pierre is so irritated by what Wavel does that he would tick red to spite Wavel.

Pierre has the support of Jane Carpin, who besides worried about the responsibilities bested on Minister Morgan, has her own agenda. Nicholas Prea is a friend of theirs too.

Patrick X agrees

In the January 15 article, Wavel Ramkalawan claims that SNP is ready for the future. The People can write that this is garbage and has the reasons to back its statements.

For example, the future is bleak for a Party which like mentioned above, is glad it is not in power and sees strange things when going round the twist. But it is best we leave it to ordinary citizens of this country to make their own conclusions. Take for example the blog, Patrick X posted on the internet.

Patrick wrote about the confusing state of mind of the SNP. One day they shout that government should have less control. The next morning PUC becomes their target. And he also has concluded that Wavel is using SNP for his own good.

“One good thing I was pleased to read about in the article is that Ramkalawan states clearly that the SNP does not only work to win elections. I couldn’t agree more as he finally has admitted that he is not interested in whatever the majority votes for; i.e. the Parti Lepep.

I’d think that a Party which wants the best for the country would be able to deliver the best if it was in power. Obviously that does not apply for the SNP which is not interested in winning the coming elections”, wrote Patrick.

“Ramkalawan states that the SBC does not take the SNP seriously and cuts them short each time they do something. I must say that to be able to deserve live time on SBC one must actually do and achieve something. Last year for instance James Michel held consultative meetings in the various districts.

Those meetings gave the SNP a gleaming opportunity to participate amongst the people and challenge the Parti Lepep delegation hosting them, an opportunity to speak and be heard. SNP’s leader did not attend a single one of those meetings and paved the way for Michel to space for himself in the political spotlight’.

Patrick has pointed out that when SNP said it is ready for the future it is perhaps the biggest exaggeration so far this year. Since their defeat in the last election SNP has not been alone ready let alone be prepared for anything and are certainly not prepared for the future. It is a mere year left before the coming election’s campaigning starts for full and SNP has done nothing but boycott.

And they claim to be ready for the future? They haven’t been ready in the recent past, are still not ready for the present and are most certainly not even prepared for the future
